WEEKEND UPDATE

SATURDAY, JULY 2

WHOOO We're in Taiwan!! Praise God for safe flights and a smooth train ride to Hualien! Thank you all for your prayers  Here's our first group pic, taken at the Taipei train station :)

We were greeted at the train station at Hualien by Pastor Lin and Pastor Chang, who brought us to our destination: Dong Hong Church. Our first order of business was to meet with the pastors and TAs. Since most of us and the TAs are returners, we were very excited to see familiar faces! We then spent the rest of the day checking our inventory, preparing crafts, and shopping for materials we'll need for the coming week. We all bought these cute manual giraffe fans to keep us cool while we're in Taiwan!

SUNDAY, JULY 3

We started the day with morning devotion and Dong Hong Church's Sunday service. Afterwards, we went to lunch with the elders and deacons of their church as well as our TAs. They were all very welcoming and excited for us to be here!

After lunch, we were blessed with plenty of time to prepare for Monday.

Our first weekend in Hualien has been really good bonding time for our team. Hopefully we will be able to keep this dynamic throughout the next two weeks!

PRAYER REQUESTS
1. Our English Camp will officially begin tomorrow!! We currently have 69 students enrolled, and 31 signed up for family visitations! Please pray for God to open the hearts of these families and their children.
2. Some of us are still jetlagged! Please pray that we'll have energy and that our sleeping schedule will adjust quickly.
3. Pastor Lin's nephew Tim is one of our TAs this year. Please pray for him to be receptive to God's Word since he is not a believer. Please also pray that he will see God's love through us and that we will not be afraid to witness to him despite our language barriers.

Thank you all for your support! Stay tuned to see how our first day goes :)
